The following rudist species are described from two sections, east of the village of Agios Christophoros: Vaccinites praesulcatus DOUVILLÉ, V. sulcatus DEFRANCE, V. gosaviensis DOUVILLÉ, V. inaequicostatus MUENSTER, V. boehmi DOUVILLÉ, V. cornuvaccinum gaudryi MUNIER-CHALMAS, Pseudopironaea hellenica n. sp., Tetravaccinites macedoniensis n. sp., Durania sp. The fauna is indicative for an Upper Santonian to lower Campanian age. Ecologically, section I shows a change from the barrier facies to the lagoonal facies with time. In section II sediments of the barrier foreslope are exposed. This sequence ends with a hardground which is followed by sediments of the Pelagonic Flysch.
Zusammenfassung
Aus zwei Profilen 5 km östlich der Ortschaft Agios Christophoros werden folgende Rudisten beschrieben: Vaccinites praesulcatus DOUVILLÉ, V. sulcatus DEFRANCE, V. gosaviensis DOUVILLÉ, V. inaequicostatus MUENSTER, V. boehmi DOUVILLÉ, V. cornuvaccinum gaudryi MUNIER-CHALMAS, Pseudopironaea hellenica n. sp., Tetravaccinites macedoniensis n. sp., Durania sp. Die Fauna weist auf Obersanton-Untercampan hin. Ökologisch zeigt Profil I einen zeitlichen Übergang von der Barriere-Fazies zur Lagunen-Faziesan, während im Profil II Sedimente des Plattformrandes aufgeschlossen sind. Nach einem Hardground folgen hier die basalen Ablagerungen des Pelagonischen Flysch.
